1. This point is misinterpreted by Bhattacharya (2009: 76 and n. 43), who takes it surprisingly as evidence that Jayarāśi refers to Bṛhaspati ‘as a god or demi-god’ and therefore ‘that Jayarāśi was not a Cārvāka/Lokāyata’.
